Welcome to TeamBell!

teambell_a_3.jpgIn November, Forsyth County will elect the final member of the Board of Commissioners. It's been a long time since a Democrat campaigned for county commission. They have chosen a strong candidate in Jon Flack. I met Jon during the primary season. He's a personable guy and, I believe, a man of integrity.

Jon and I share a common vision for Forsyth County. We believe local government should be as close as possible to the people and that public participation is critical to meeting future challenges. We agree on some important issues such as the election of county commissioners by district.  We both supported SPLOST V and we supported the agreement between the city and county that saved SPLOST VI.

But my opponent and I do have some very fundamental differences. One important difference is our perception of what this election is all about.

Jon says it's not about Republicans vs. Democrats. I disagree.  But if I were a Democrat campaigning in Forsyth County where 85-90% of us are Republicans, I might try to make the same argument.  But the fact is, this election is about Republican values vs. Democrat values.

Our Democrat friends are out of touch with what the average citizens of Forsyth County want. We need look no further then the July primary for evidence of that.  While 85%  of us said yes to the Fair Tax, my Democrat opponent said no.  Democrat values are not our values.

Jon wants government to create a Green Wedge in North Forsyth and to make Conservation Subdivisions compulsory. Republicans want less government regulation and less intrusion in our lives while Democrats wants more. Democrat values are not our values.

Jon also calls for the creation of townships. What he doesn't talk about is the cost of adding another layer of bureaucracy. If Forsyth County ever decided to create townships, our citizens bear the burden of another tax increase. In tough economic times, your elected representatives should be looking for ways to cut government spending not increase it. Democrat values are not our values.

We also have a difference of opinion at the national level. In one of the most important presidential elections in our nation's history, my opponent supports Barrack Obama for President. The vast majority of our citizens will support John McCain.  Democrat values are not our values.

Please don't be misled. This race is about which set of values you want to represent you on the Board of Commissioners. My opponent's Democrat values? Or your Republican values?

While I'm confident we'll prevail, I continue to need your help.  Please contribute to my campaign today online by clicking the Donate button at the left.  Your generous support of $50, $100, $250, $500 or even the maximum of $2,300 will be crucial in helping us win in November.

Thank you for your help and your support, and please continue to keep us in your prayers.
